Constitution & Mission Statement

The Phoenix Camera Club (The Club), Holsworthy, is a democratic, non-profit making body, open to all, dedicated to promoting and improving awareness in, and the quality of, photography in the Holsworthy, Devon area.

The Club will be run by the committee consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and committee members (maximum of 9 and a quorum of 5) to be elected annually at the Club AGM in December. Subscription details to be agreed at this meeting. Only Club members from the current year may vote at Club Meetings.

The role of the committee is to manage finances yearly, book and present the yearly programme and organise the day to day running of the Club. The committee may not authorise expenditure beyond the financial means of the Club account/s.

On behalf of the members, the committee will maintain affiliation to the Western Counties Photographic Federation and public liability insurance through the WCPF.

The committee may ask individuals and sub-groups to undertake specific tasks and make decisions on their behalf between meetings, such decisions being agreed unanimously as necessary by the committee.

Club membership entitles members to access all the Club's activities and, by arrangement, equipment owned by the Club. It also includes collective responsibility for all activities on behalf of, and with the agreement of, the members of the Club.

The Club will promote the enjoyment and improvement of all aspects of photography through a varied programme of regular meetings, with Club competitions, and presentations by visiting speakers and Club members. Meetings will be open to visitors.

The Club will promote the Club's activities to the local community, encourage new membership and involve itself, where practicable, in local projects.

Club members will endeavour to advise constructively and support the photographic work of others in the Club and in the wider community.

Any Club member may propose a change to the Club's constitution. Changes to the constitution may only be undertaken at the AGM, or by calling an extraordinary general meeting.

The decision to call such a meeting to be taken by the committee. Any proposal for changes to the constitution must be tabled at least one month prior to such a meeting.
