Annual Programme 2012

At the Phoenix Camera Club we try to bring our members a varied programme of events, competitions and speakers each year.

Below are highlights of our programme for 2012. Our programme for 2013 will be published in December.

We are always entertained and enlightened throughout the year by our invited guest speakers and critique evenings, competitions and workshops. Our programme for 2012 includes the following:

January 9th - Barbara Fryer Photography
A presentation of superb images taken by Barbara Fryer, a professional photograher from Torrington.

January 27th - Club Annual Dinner - Trencreek
Presentation evening and annual dinner at Trencreek, Bude. See Wendy Day for details.

January 30th - Western Counties Portfolio
Our annual evening of print images from the travelling critique from the Western Counties Photographic Federation. Come along and give your opinion, positive or negative!

February 6th - Members Competition - Theme "Still Life"
Our first competition of the year, followed by the clubs Annual General Meeting. Judged by the members.

March 5th - Evening Workshop - Macro Photography
Bring along your camera's and tripods for some close-up work. Also bring along your entries for the 'Action' competition in April.

April 1st - 14th - Club Exhibition - Castle Gallery, Bude
Come and see our members work at the Castle Gallery in Bude, Cornwall. Free Entry!

April 2nd - Members Competition - Theme "Action"
Our second competition this year, the theme of "Action" can be interpreted in many ways. Come and see our efforts! Judge: TBC

May 14th - Kate Bailey
Hailing all the way from Chumleigh, Kate Bailey has travelled widely with photographic commissions and will be presenting her lovely images of buildings, flowers, people and everything else!

May 21st - Evening Photo-shoot
Details to be confirmed.

May 26th - Devon Photography Clubs - Devon Battle, Plymouth
The annual Devon Photography Clubs competition, perhaps we can win this year!

June 11th - Members Competition - Theme "As Close As You Can Get!"
A chance to show off your skills acquired from our workshop evening, the members will judge our best 'close-up' images.

June 23rd - Members Trip - Dingles Steam Village
Details to be confirmed.

July 2nd - Adventures with Mike & Joy
Club members Mike and Joy present some of their work.

July 16th - Evening Photo-shoot - Golitha Falls
Details to be confirmed.

August 6th - An Evening with Nigel Chaffers-Heard - "The Eternal Amateur"
A presentation of Nigels very best work. Bring along entries for the 'Silhouette' competition.

August 29th - Members Social Event
Details to be confirmed.

Our third competition this year, members will need to practice their exposure skills for this one! Judge: TBC

October 1st - Photographers Questions Time
Ask a question to our panel of 'experts'!

November 5th - Chris Chapman - Photography on Dartmoor
Back by popular demand, Chris will present his images of Dartmoor and share his tips and experience with us. Bring along your prints for the 'Histriological' competition.

December 3rd - Members Competition - Theme "Histriological!"
Our annual trophy competition, your images should illustrate Mans impact on his surrounding environment. All pictures to have been taken in the South West in the preceding 2 years. Judge: TBC
