About The Phoenix Camera Club

The Phoenix Camera Club was set up by former members of the Holsworthy Camera Club, and has gone from strength to strength since its initial meeting back in 2003. Now; with around 40 active members currently meeting once a month, the Phoenix Camera Club has certainly risen again and enjoys a full and varied calendar of events and activities each year.

With a packed programme of competitions, speakers, tutorial sessions and outings, the Phoenix Camera Club aims to provide an interesting, creative and educational photography forum for Holsworthy and its surrounding villages.

We have much to offer those people wishing to learn a little more about photography, improve their skills and just get more enjoyment out of taking pictures. We try to combine the development of technical skills with a general appreciation of the creative and artistic subjectivity of photography.

The club holds regular exhibitions of members photographic work which have included shows at the Bodmin Street Methodist Chapel, Holsworthy Museum, St. Peters Church and Holsworthy Community Fun Day.

Members have also participated in 'photo-shoots' at a variety of local beauty spots including Hartland Abbey, Docton Mill, Boscastle and Arlington Court.

With a very busy programme scheduled for 2010, members of the Phoenix Camera Club will benefit from seeing wonderful pictures taken by an array of talented photographers as well as learning new techniques and skills to help them improve their own photographs.

The Phoenix Camera Club was lucky enough in 2009 to become the recipient of funding under the National Lottery 'Awards for All' scheme, which the club has invested in state of the art computer and digital projection equipment. We  use this equipment to encourage more people within the local community to take up and enjoy their photography. The grant also enabled the club to commission this website which we hope you will revisit often.

We warmly welcome anyone interested in film, slide or digital photography and invite you to come along and join us at our next meeting - we would love to see you!

The club meets on the first Monday of each month from 19:00 - 21:30 at the Holsworthy Skills Centre in Holsworthy (by the Leisure Centre Car Park).  Please contact us if you would like more information.
